why do the blood clots in my neck hurt?

Question by : why do the blood clots in my neck hurt?
I was diagnosed with blood clots and pulmonary embolisms earlier this year and neither hurt. I have lumps all over my chest/ neck on the right side which i’m told are blood clots. The spot where the blood clots are on my neck has just started hurting, and i’m not sure why they would hurt all of a sudden like that. Also, I don’t know if it’s vital but I am on Coumadin for the clots, I’ve been getting dizzy a lot and I have peritoneal mesothelioma that was just treated with surgery and chemo in may.
Please answer if you reckon you can help because I’m really worried that there’s a problem but I don’t want to go to the doctor if it’s nothing.

Answer by gazeygoo
If you are on coumadin those are NOT blood clots and even those that have blood clots cannot feel them. You need to see the doc and get a proper diagnosis.

Q&A: Aren’t there just TOO MANY commercials these days?

404003416 a93ae7ce94 m Q&A: Arent there just TOO MANY commercials these days?
by Dominic Mercier

Question by GeneL: Aren’t there just TOO MANY commercials these days?
I mean, I’m all for the right to advertise and I also am well aware that excellent ratings bring in high revenue for those commercials but, c’mon, a show starts its barrage of commercials 7-9 minutes after a show starts and we are subject to 4 minutes or so of commercials after about every 5 minutes of program.

I’m sick and tired of Flo at Progressive, that dude with Mesothelioma, that chick in the hideous sweater wanting me to join the AARP, and all the rest of them ad nauseum.

Thank God I have my DVR which allows me to record about 95% of the programs I want to see and then I can zip right right through those annoying wastes of time.

So, I question you, which commercials do YOU abhor the most?
@Donna
Marketing studies have been done about the placement of commercials and where they are most effective. This is why you see commercials at the same time on channels you switch over to. Around 9 minutes after the start of a program is typical for the initially commercials to appear on most shows and then just a few minutes in-between the rest of the groupings.

We are all like small lemmings if we allow ourselves to be subject to all the commercials being offered.

Answer by SClass™℠
TOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO many! on an hour long show, the soap is like 28 minutes and the commercials are like 32 minutes. Every 5 minute, we gotta hear about Cascade and Tide.

I’m tired of this _____.

Q&A: what kind of digital camera should I buy to use with my Canon A-1 lens?

Question by : what kind of digital camera should I buy to use with my Canon A-1 lens?
I’ve inherited a wonderful small 35mm Canon A1 with at least four different high-priced looking lens. My father in law used it and was hoping to retire and delight in it but died suddenly from Mesothelioma. I want to at least use the lens but will want to buy a digital camera. It would be nice to be able to use the lens and reckon of him while using them. My husband can’t fanthom getting rid of them but we cannot afford film and procesing and dark rooms etc. What kind of camera would I need to buy to have digital and use the lens? I’ve heard there might be adapters I can buy?

Best answer:

Answer by keerok
The only way to use those is with an FD to EOS adapter on a Canon dSLR in manual mode at least.

If God created everything in the universe and made the Earth a special place for us Humans..?

5635495888 eb09cf401d m If God created everything in the universe and made the Earth a special place for us Humans..?
by asterix611

Question by trouthunter: If God made everything in the universe and made the Earth a special place for us Humans..?
Then why are there so many naturally occuring elements and chemical compounds that can kill us, make us go insane, or in other ways cause extreme harm?
Examples of elements would be lead, mercury, asbestos.
Additionally there are radioactive elements like radon gas that cause cancers and mutations. Not to mention the deadly gases such as high concentrations of CO2 and sulphuric acid.
The ancients had no knowlege of these things and no way of finding out. Was this Gods way of messing with us? If he is really a beneviolent God wouldn’t he have made us resistant to these things?
If a rational being made humans, and professed to care and like them, wouldn’t he have done things another way?
I’m currently conception The God Delusion. Richard is a fantastic writer.
You didn’t know that asbestos is naturally occuring? Seriously…you didn’t know that?
How about your own view instead of a link to a christian web site.

Best answer:

Answer by nondescript
Because no god made the Earth. The only reason why this Earth is a special place for us is because we adapted to the environment over millions of years. Though, we only adapted to certain climates and areas, and there might be things here we just can’t adapt to.

A excellent discussion of why there were no gods involved in this Earth can be found in Richard Dawkins’ various books on the subject, counting his latest one, “The God Delusion”.

Grief websites for young adults?

Question by : Grief websites for young adults?
I am 25 and my father has mesothelioma and is in hospice. I am having a very hard time dealing with it and it is just my mother and I as far as family goes. My fiance is supportive but I feel like it’s too much for him to comfort me all the time. My acquaintances have stepped down and are, I guess, ignoring the fact that this is happening to me. I want to email or have a support group about young adults who have gone through the same business as I am going through!! I am not a teen, but I am not ancient enough to just “deal with it” yet….

Best answer:

Answer by Ed
Dear Flame,

Very sorry to hear about your father.
“Grief is the price we pay for like.”

I’m sorry that I don’t know of any “young adult” bereavement support group. But I’ll look around more, and get back to you if I find one.

But in view of the fact that you’re hurting just anticipating your father’s death, consider joining now an online support grief group that deals with “anticipatory grief.” Here’s one that might be helpful, if you wanted to register and post to check it out:

http://forums.grieving.com/index.php/forum/26-coping-with-terminal-illness-upcoming-death/

Here’s another one which is an email dissussion group, that says it’s for those adults anticipating, as well as those grieving, the death of a parent. But I’m not sure how active it is:

http://www.fortunecity.com/millennium/pleased/626/bereavementgroup.htm

Finally, here’s an online message board just for those who have lost a parent. It appears active:

http://forums.grieving.com/index.php/forum/13-loss-of-a-parent-mother-or-father/

Perhaps one of these may be helpful to you.

I assume you’ve questioned someone at the hospice which your father is in, if they know of any such group either in the community or online. If not, give them a try. If they say there isn’t any such group, just kindly consider advocating for others like yourself, by mentioning how you are certainly are not alone, and such a young adult group could be helpful to others if any of the hospices would consider just starting one online.

Take excellent gentle care of yourself,

- Ed

possible brake dust on hand please help?

Question by ExplosiveSandwich: possible brake dust on hand please help?
two days ago while in my grandmothers car i noticed a small box on the floor and selected it up. i saw that it was breakpads without asbestos. i place it down and noticed black dirt or dust.us i immediately washed my hands washing them twice more. the box said to rinse hands for at least 15 minutes. i couldn’t straight away but took a shower about a half hour later washing my hand most of the time. is there a chance i will develop cancer? i am extremely frightened and cannot get this out of my mind please help.

Best answer:

Answer by The Hoff
You said without asbestos. So what is the problem? Do you ever hear of the epidemic of auto mechanics dropping like flies from cancer? because it doesn’t happen! just wash them off and all’s is well.

WHO should i contact? im concerend about air quality?

Question by steady_c: WHO should i contact? im concerend about air quality?
Ive been working at this foodstore for 3 years now and come to find out 5 people within the last 4 months found out they have cancer. They are all 40-75 years ancient.Something just does not seem right. this building i work in is a ancient building built in the 1960′s and come to find out the building next door that used to be a Elder Beermans closed in the ahead of schedule 90′s has asbestos in the building.I want to know could the air i be breathing be harmfull or something or is it just coincidence? Who should i contact to test air quality and other stuff?

Best answer:

Answer by Outsider
Your building most likely has asbestos as well. Asbestos can, in fact, is a cause for cancer. If your building is older, then it may have been used as insulation while it was unknown that asbestos could cause cancer. Find out if your building was made by the same person as the Elder Beermans, if it was, then you might want to consider changing your job.

Okay what is the true answer? Does dip have fiberglass in it or not?

6478872607 9a0348be42 m Okay what is the true answer? Does dip have fiberglass in it or not?
by ALDEADLE

Question by Da Austrian Oak: Okay what is the right answer? Does dip have fiberglass in it or not?
I heard that dip had fiberglass in it, which is like asbestos basically…when seen under a microscope or whatever, there are barbs that cut into your tissue to APPARENTLY get the nicotine into your bloodstream quicker. I just don’t get it! If there is no fiberglass, you would still get the nicotine into your bloodstream through your mouth tissue. It’s just like the nicotine patch, except it’s on the inside and not the outside of your skin…err whatever.

My dad is a dentist and he said he heard that dip has fiberglass but he said even he is not positively sure. Would the FDA even allow tobacco companies to place dip in your mouth if it had fiberglass shards in it?! I dunno.

I guess the safest way is snus if you absolutely need the nicotine. I’ve been smoke-free for three days, but I’ve been dippin’ cuz smoking may cause cancer much later than dip, but it puts carbon monoxide into your bloodstream which takes 72 hours to get out and also lowers your oxygen levels for the same quantity of time. I already feel like I have a lot more energy in view of the fact that I quit smoking, probably because of the carbon monoxide alone.

I want to quit all tobacco products indefinitely, but I can’t afford nicotine patches right now, yes, even from eBay…they are just too high-priced…and dip, comparitively, is much less money than cigarettes which are less than the patch, making it much much less.

Really I just want to know about the fiberglass shenanigans…

Thanks.
This has to do with men’s health because I have by no means ever ever known a woman or even seen a woman who did dip before. I heard that in the south of the U.S., women chew tobacco, but I’m not talking about chew and I don’t live in the south.
Anna, maybe that’s because most of the guys here have extremely low self-esteem or they are just young and unsure about themselves. Nothing incorrect with that. I posted here, because I saw in “SEARCH” another question like mine posted in “Men’s Health” a few months ago that did not answer my question.
